Guided by an angel, they journey safely into Egypt, trusting completely in the Lord's providence and care.
Rendered in the distinctive visual language of Ethiopian Orthodox Christian iconography, the composition depicts the Holy Family travelling across the waters by papyrus boat with the pyramids of Egypt rising in the background.
