About the Artwork

Inspired by Psalm 33:3"Sing to him a new song; play skilfully, and shout for joy." — this sacred composition celebrates the rich musical heritage of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church.

The artwork brings together treasured symbols of Ethiopian Christian faith, including King David with his harp, Saint Yared, the father of Ethiopian sacred chant, angelic musicians, the Church of Saint Mary of Zion in Aksum, the Ark of the Covenant, Mount Zion, the Holy Spirit represented by the dove, and the Burning Bush, expressing God's presence among His people.

Rendered in the rich visual tradition of Ethiopian Orthodox Christian iconography, the composition reflects themes of praise, worship, divine inspiration, and the enduring beauty of sacred music. Through vibrant colours and symbolic imagery, the artwork serves as both a devotional aid and a celebration of Ethiopia's ancient Christian artistic heritage.
